Bioactive food plants network

General objective

The general objective of the Bioactive Plant Foods Network is to contribute to the production of bioactive products (food, dietary supplement) with a proven health benefit in fields such as health prevention and medical regeneration. Preventive impacts shall be achieved for persons, who suffer from diabetes, metabolic syndrome and chronic diseases. The medical regeneration aims to achieve the auxiliary health effects of these ingredients, the regeneration of cells, cell assemblies and organs.

Specific aims of the network

  • Better understanding of functional plant ingredients and their health effectiveness
  • Improving and testing the quality of functional plant ingredients
  • Contribution to scientific proof of healthy effects of bioactive products
  • Creation of resources and synergy effects by linking scientific research and medium sized industry
  • Transparency for the consumer through clear communication and marketing strategies

The Bioactive Plant Foods Network has been formed by 21 partners from industry, science and marketing who have been cooperating since August 2010 within the Network co-financed by the German national ZIM NEMO Programme. The common aim is to promote the topic “Bioactivity and Health” in Baden-Württemberg and to bring new products to the market. The network is interested in the internationalisation of its services and in formulating common projects.
